Powwow Dance Championships #2 takes place Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Red Deer Resort & Casino. The family-friendly evening brings elite powwow dancers, championship-calibre singing, dramatic lighting and one-on-one dance battles together in one live show.
Never been to a powwow? This event was designed to be easy to experience
A full powwow can run for several days, and a new visitor may not know when a championship contest, dance-off or special moment will happen. PDC #2 concentrates the high-energy moments into one evening: powerful drum songs, elite dancers, close competitions and head-to-head battles under the spotlight.
What will I see?
You will see accomplished powwow dancers perform in a showcase-style competition while hearing live powwow singing. When competition gets close, the one-on-one format gives the audience a chance to focus on individual dancers, their movement, style and athleticism.
Do I need to be Indigenous to attend?
No. This is a public, family-friendly event. Whether powwow is part of your life already or this will be your first time experiencing the singing and dancing in person, you are welcome to attend and learn.
Why is it different from a regular powwow?
PDC #2 is a produced championship showcase rather than an attempt to replace a traditional powwow. It takes inspiration from the moments spectators love — championship songs, dance-offs, close contests and exceptional dancers — and presents them in a focused stage-style evening.
