About Powwow Times

Powwow Times is an Indigenous-owned arts, education, and media company led by Patrick Mitsuing, a world champion Men’s Fancy dancer from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation in Treaty 6 territory.

We share powwow dancing, music, stories, community events, and Indigenous education with audiences across North America and around the world. Our work includes live performances, cultural presentations, event support, livestreaming, educational resources, and original digital media.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to celebrate Indigenous excellence, help people learn from accurate and respectful sources, and connect audiences with the Nations, artists, dancers, singers, organizers, and communities behind the stories.

Our Editorial Commitment

Indigenous peoples are not one culture. We aim to name the specific Nation, community, language, territory, and source whenever the information supports it. Community knowledge can be sensitive or restricted, so we do not believe every teaching should be published simply because people search for it.

We welcome corrections, community context, and opportunities to improve our work.
