The Treaty 6 – 150 Years Celebration Powwow planned for October 2026 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre has been cancelled.
Powwow Times was serving as the marketing arm for this event. We were not the host or a funder of the event. Partner organizations encountered technical difficulties that prevented the celebration from moving forward as planned.
The Vision for the Celebration
The goal of the Treaty 6 – 150 Years Celebration Powwow was to bring Treaty 6 First Nations and communities together for a major gathering marking 150 years of Treaty 6.
Many Nations already had their own events and commitments during this period and were unable to participate in this opportunity. Without the level of participation and coordination needed to deliver the celebration as envisioned, the event will not proceed.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause dancers, singers, vendors, families, partners and everyone who was planning to attend. Please do not travel to the Edmonton EXPO Centre for this event.
Powwow Dance Championships – October 24, 2026
Powwow Times will still be holding the Powwow Dance Championships on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Red Deer Resort and Casino. Doors open at 4:00 p.m.
This is a separate event from the cancelled Treaty 6 – 150 Years Celebration Powwow in Edmonton. Additional championship details will be shared by Powwow Times as they become available.
