Dasan Scholfield is having a remarkable 2026 powwow season. The Prairie Band Potawatomi/Wintu Men’s Fancy dancer from Mayetta, Kansas has been stacking major wins across Indian Country — including a championship and special at the final Gathering of Nations Powwow, a 2026 Men’s Fancy world championship, a Four Bears special win, and one of the wildest endurance-special victories of the summer.
For people who follow Men’s Fancy closely, this is no longer one isolated win. Scholfield has built a season-long run against some of the best dancers in the category.
He won both the contest and the special at Gathering of Nations
The official 2026 Gathering of Nations results list Dasan Scholfield in 1st place in Men’s Northern Fancy. The same results also show him taking 1st place in the James Reeder Memorial Men’s Fancy 18–64 Special.
That is a huge double at one of the most recognized powwows in North America: win the regular Men’s Northern Fancy category, then come back and win the major fancy-dance special as well.

2026 Men’s Fancy World Champion
Scholfield has also added a 2026 Men’s Fancy world championship to the run. Video and powwow-community coverage from the 150th Ponca Celebration identified him as the 2026 Men’s Fancy Dance World Champion as he continued competing through the late-summer powwow season.
For a category as explosive and competitive as Men’s Fancy, putting together major wins across multiple weekends requires far more than one good final. Dancers have to stay sharp through multiple songs, different drum styles, tie-breakers, specials and long travel weekends.
Four Bears special win
Powwow Times is also tracking Scholfield’s Four Bears special victory as part of his 2026 run. Four Bears Powwow is hosted in the Fort Berthold/MHA Nation powwow circuit in North Dakota, another major stop for dancers travelling the northern contest trail.
We will update this story with the complete special title, payout and official results link when the committee’s detailed 2026 results are publicly archived. The MHA Nation’s official 2026 schedule confirms Four Bears Powwow ran May 21–24 at the 4 Bears Casino Event Center.

Then he danced 32 songs for more than 90 minutes
One of the most impressive moments of Scholfield’s season may not have been a standard contest at all.
At Eastern Shoshone Indian Days in Wyoming, roughly 20 dancers entered an endurance competition. By song 20, only five were left. Scholfield and Preston Olney kept going until they had danced 32 songs over more than 90 minutes without a rest. When neither dancer appeared ready to quit, the decision went to the crowd — and Scholfield was declared the winner.
County 10 reported that he earned $1,000 for the endurance win.

This run did not come out of nowhere
Scholfield has been winning in Fancy Dance for years. Archived Grand Ronde Contest Powwow results show him winning Boys Fancy as far back as 2012 and again in 2014. In 2024, Grand Ronde listed him 1st in Junior Men’s Fancy. The 2024 Gathering of Nations results also placed him in the Men’s Northern Fancy finals before his breakthrough 2026 championship.
That history matters. The 2026 season looks less like a sudden arrival and more like a dancer who has grown up in the category and is now winning at the highest adult level.
Why this season stands out
Men’s Fancy is built around speed, footwork, athleticism, timing and the ability to finish hard on the final beat. At major contest powwows, a dancer is rarely beating one opponent — he is coming through rounds filled with champions.
Scholfield’s 2026 results show several different kinds of wins: a major category championship, a memorial special, a world title, another special on the northern circuit, and an endurance contest that tested conditioning as much as style. That range is what makes the season noteworthy.
Is Dasan Scholfield the hottest Men’s Fancy dancer in powwow right now?
There are many elite Men’s Fancy dancers travelling the circuit, and powwow results can change from weekend to weekend. But based on the wins Scholfield has put together in 2026, he has a strong argument for being one of the hottest dancers in the category right now.
Gathering of Nations champion. Gathering of Nations special champion. World champion. Four Bears special winner. A 32-song endurance winner.
That’s a serious run.
