The reason is because learning their language, it would open up so many doors for themselves. One of the doors that opens up is being able to understand Elder’s at ceremony. When you understand what the Elder’s are saying, they would be able to learn more about the ceremony is about and what not to do and what to do.

A lot of Indigenous languages hold stories within words when you break them down. It’s a beautiful things knowing that if you can understand the language, you understand your own history.

It Should Be Easy and Fun

Look, learning an Indigenous language should be easy, and not a stressful process. As an Indigenous person, we shouldn’t have to have a hard time speaking our own language. It should be readily available to us to learn and understand. Future language keepers, you’re the one that passes down the language and keeps it alive.

It Shouldn’t Be Where Our Language Is Close to Extinction

It should not be in a position where our language is on the brink of extinction. It’s not right that Indigenous languages is not taught in every single school, and our kids know more of another language and not our own.
