Welcome to the Powwow Times Blogger Team!

We’re thrilled to have you join the Powwow Times family!

Dear Friend,

Your voice matters. Your stories matter. And together, we're building something powerful—an online space to celebrate Native American culture, Powwow life, and Indigenous excellence.

This is your official onboarding guide. Please read through everything carefully so you know what’s expected and how you can make the most of your blogging journey with us.

🔥 What You’ll Be Doing

As a Volunteer Blogger, you’ll:

✅ Write 1 blog post per week (minimum 2000–2500 words).
✅ Follow Yoast SEO guidelines (located at the bottom of each blog draft).
✅ Set a featured image that works well for Facebook sharing (JPG format).
✅ Include a link in each post to our home page: www.powwowtimes.ca
✅ Write content focused on Native American or Powwow culture, including:

Food & recipes
Fashion & regalia
Powwow events
Community news
Influencers & role models
Historical or current issues
Personal experiences

🎯 Consistency matters—We ask for at least 10 successful blog posts before giving you access to share your work directly on our Facebook page. Until then, we’ll manually promote your blogs to our audience.

🛠 Getting Set Up

Before you begin, please complete the following:

Create a WordPress.com account using the email address we used to onboard you.

This lets you connect your blog profile to your personal website or social media.
Add your profile picture and short bio so our readers know who you are.

Make sure your account is linked to your Facebook and/or Instagram (optional but recommended for cross-promotion).

🧠 Important Tips for Writing Your Blog Posts

Use short paragraphs for readability.
Tell stories—readers love real experiences, interviews, and culture-focused journeys.
Use keywords related to Native American culture and Powwows for better SEO.
Follow the Yoast SEO checklist before submitting your draft.
Add 1–3 high-quality images that are copyright-free or owned by you.
Always be respectful, accurate, and uplifting in your tone.

📱 Social Media Sharing

After your first 10 approved blog posts, you’ll be added as a Facebook Contributor so you can share your work directly to our 300K+ fans.

Until then, we’ll manually post your content on our social channels, tagging your profile (if available) to help grow your visibility and following.

❤️ A Few Final Notes

This is a volunteer role—you won’t be paid, but your voice will reach a large audience and help elevate Indigenous culture.
We’re here to help—if you need feedback, ideas, or assistance, reach out anytime
We love celebrating your growth—frequent and quality bloggers may be invited for interviews, features, or special projects.
